Advances in Geo-Energy Research was launched in 2017. It was published in four issues per year from 2018 to 2021. The journal has been published bi-monthly in 2022, and will be published monthly in 2023.

Advances in Geo-Energy Research is a gold open-access journal, this means:
Authors are required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) for their article to be published; Authors are requested to select Creative Commons user licenses (CC BY-NC-ND); Articles published in this journal are freely available online immediately upon publication.
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
For this open-access journal, all published articles are made immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download under an open-access license. Permitted third-party (re)use is defined by the following Creative Commons user licenses (CC BY-NC-ND).
